With Summer NAMM in full swing, the news of new products keeps growing, even from those not at Summer NAMM. Back in April, I reviewed the Billy Blast Ballistech II Mesh Drum Head. Summer NAMM is here and Alesis used the opportunity to show off their latest premium, six-piece electronic drumset, the DM10 X Kit. The Alesis DM10 X kit is an update to their popular DM10 Pro Kit (see Alesis DM10 Electronic Drum Set!!!!). It has a new rack configuration, new 12″ trigger pads (same used on the DM10 Studio 2011 kit) and it looks like they gave the module a face lift as well. On the heals of the Tommy Lee/ePro live team up (see Pearl ePro Live and Tommy Lee Team up!), comes the news that Mike Mangini of Dream Theater is also teaming up with Pearl’s ePro live triggers. Get the full story here:
Pearl announced back on April 21st that Tommy Lee of Motley Crue fame is now part of the Pearl Drums artist roster. It looks as if Tommy Lee will no longer be with DW for his drums. The news doesn’t stop there. Apparently, Tommy Lee will be using a custom Pearl ePro live electronic drum kit along with his acoustic set-up. The 3 layer Ballistech II White Mesh Head is the latest mesh head offering from Billy Blast Drums. You may remember the review I did on the original single layer Ballistech mesh head last year (Billy Blast Ballistech Mesh drum head Review). In that review I basically stated that the original single layer Ballistech was one of the better budget level mesh heads. The only draw back to that head was its life span. The new 3 layer Ballistech II appears to be the answer to the draw back of the original.
