Not much is really know about the the Nord Drum other than what is stated on the device in the picture above. According to Nord all will be answered at winter NAMM 2012. For those that don’t know what a Virtual analog drum synthesizer is, here is my best guess that I posted on Vdrums.com:
“For those that don’t know that means 1980’s electronic drums. Like Simmons and Tama Techstars. This kind of sound is making a small come back in the dance and hip hop genre. Even though modern drum modules have samples of these older edrums, they don’t really reproduce the dynamics and nuance of a true synth. So, a lot of studios must track down the old gear if they want that sound. With the nord drum they shouldn’t need to do that anymore. Why only four trigger inputs? If I had to guess, it’s because the old sound is always mixed with the new sound. So, you would never have a full kit set-up this way. You would use this in conjunction with your regular kit (A or E). Just my two cents.”
NAMM is only two days away so, I guess we will find out exactly what the Nord Drum is.
