It looks as if a mainstream edrum maker and a video game maker teamed up.  The Alesis drum set under the name of Ion is a electronic drum set that can be bought for use with the new Rock Band 2 video game developed by Harmonix Music Systems.  A close up of the kit shows that it is a variation of a Medeli edrum set.
